I’ve cut the finished patches and have begun to build the nests. I have one more Phoebe in flight to finish, then I’ll start the spiraled quilt pattern I have in mind. I’ve enjoyed this process very much. Each time I work on another thread painted phoebe, I feel I’ve gotten to know them a little bit better. One thing continues to impress me. In a culture where flash and color are equated with “better” somehow, I feel these muted birds radiate such a perfect sense of intensity and focus. They simply are “perfect in their character.” They exist in a state of simply knowing they have everything they need to succeed in life. No judgement from others is required or needed. So, my plan is for a very intensely colored background to reflect that “perfection of character” the muted colors may not convey. I hope it all comes together as it seems to in my mind.
