The bag I use for essentials, AKA my purse, has reached that point of no return. I’m taking some time away from Phoebe Dreaming to make a new one. I drew out the qualities I like from my two favorite bags. Then I made a paper bag pattern. Now I’m working on decoration. Finally, I’ll assemble it. Here are a few progress shots.
First I drew out features of the two bags I like the best. Then figured out what parts needed to connect where. Then I made the paper bag pattern.
Here, I’ve cut out the parts and assigned colorful zippers to certain pockets. I’m thread painting one of my Mimbres Celtic Women designs for a pocket.
I started with a pair of jeans I picked up at a local thrift store (on sale for about $2.30!). They were pre-washed denim with wide legs that have worked perfectly. My machine can’t sew through the doubled seams or pockets, so I’ll have to think about how I might repurpose the top part of these pants.
