A Small Digression
I woke up with this image in my mind a few weeks ago. It wouldn’t let go. I had to do something with it besides make a ProCreate drawing. I’ve started this…..
It’s 2 inches in diameter. I didn’t think I could do this kind of work any more due to arthritis in my thumbs, but it’s cotton and easy to sew. I’m putting leather back on it, which is a bit of challenge.
I finished the bezel of beads around the circumference and added the loop for a necklace by the end of yesterday. The pile of beads a the bottom is my thought process for something dangling off the bottom of the work. I’ll post pictures once my muse tells me how it should look.
The beauty of this small digression is the discovery of something new for me. I’ve beaded around stones before, but never around a fabric art. I’ve limited myself because of my fear of pain in my hands, without really testing my limits. I guess the lesson is: always take life’s cue to stretch your skill and knowledge, and don’t let fear stop you from trying out your creative super powers, whatever they may be.Tags: fabric and beading, Fabric Art, Food for thought, letting go of fear, taking a chance
